Two Tu-95MS strategic bombers complete scheduled mission over Barents and Norwegian seas
Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers serving with the Russian Aerospace Forces completed a scheduled mission over neutral international waters of the Barents and Norwegian seas, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to the Defense Ministry’s press release, “Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers serving with the Russian Aerospace Forces completed a scheduled mission lasting over four hours over neutral international waters of the Barents and Norwegian seas.”
“They were escorted by crews of MiG-31interceptors of the Aerospace Forces and Su-33 fighter aircraft of the Russian Navy. Fighter aircraft from foreign states shadowed the strategic missile carriers at some sections of the route.”
Defense Ministry sources added that crews serving with the Long-Range Aviation Command regularly fly over neutral international waters in the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Pacific Ocean, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. All missions involving aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are conducted in strict compliance with international regulations for the use of airspace.
