Russia interested in cooperation on Arctic with United States — Russian Foreign Ministry
Russia reaffirmed its commitment to developing Polar Region cooperation with all Arctic states, including the United States, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry cited by RIA Novosti.
“In line with the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation updated in 2023, our country remains unwavering in its commitment to preserving peace and stability in the Arctic, and the region’s sustainable development,” a Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated.
“We have never rejected dialogue on Arctic matters, provided it rests on an equal, mutually respectful and beneficial basis that aligns with Russia’s national interests.”
Earlier, Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev commented that Russia and the United States should collaborate to protect the Arctic and develop its resources.
Dmitriev, who participated in high-level Russia-US talks on February 18 in Riyadh, noted that the discussion also addressed potential joint projects in the Arctic.
Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that Russia and the United States have significant potential for cooperation in natural resource development, particularly in the Arctic — although no specific discussions have occurred between the two countries.
