Arkhangelsk Region rescuers receive new equipment for parachute-free airdrop
According to the regional government’s press service, the new equipment is expected to improve the efficiency of search and rescue operations while providing an additional level of safety for personnel working in remote areas.
The complete airdrop kit includes descenders, karabiners, cowstail slings, harnesses, ropes, helmets, and navigators. It is designed to support two groups of four rescuers, along with two deployment systems for aircraft operations.
“In northern conditions, a prompt arrival at the emergency site often saves more lives. The new equipment will allow firefighters and rescuers to be deployed from the air as close as possible to the source of a fire or disaster area which may be impossible to reach by land,” said Shakhobiddin Vakkosov, head of the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
In addition, rescuers have been provided with equipment for evacuating victims by aircraft during operations over water and in recovery scenarios. This includes wetsuits, coveralls, helmets, masks, gloves, dry bags, an inflatable life jacket, and multifunctional rescue stretchers.
