Patrushev called for long-term project planning in the Arctic
Shipbuilding projects to develop the Arctic require significant resources and so should be long-term, designed for 20-30 years, said Nikolai Patrushev, Presidential Aid and Chairman of the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation, in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.
“The experience of implementing projects in the Arctic shows that their launch and coming to design capacity requires considerable time and resources. Therefore, it is necessary to switch to long-term planning for 20-30 years, for example, until 2050,” Patrushev said, speaking about shipbuilding projects intended to develop the Arctic.
“In this case, the Maritime Board of Russia pursues a comprehensive approach and long-term planning for the development of the shipbuilding industry as a high-tech sector with a long technological cycle. This is why we make sure that the documents being developed for maritime activities are synchronized with each other and take into account the planning horizon up to 2050,” he also pointed out.
