Infrastructure

The development of roads, ports, railways, and other infrastructure in the Arctic has been closely intertwined with resource development. The harsh environment poses constant challenges for building and maintaining infrastructure.

The experimental legal regime involving the use of unmanned technologies should be extended to all Far Eastern regions, President of Russia Vladimir Putin told the plenary meeting at the Eastern Economic Forum.

“I ask the Government to create conditions for their wide-ranging application on agricultural land, for environmental protection and management of natural resources, as well as on industrial and logistic platforms,” he said.

President Putin noted that at the present time, this regime was in effect only in the territory of Sakhalin, where it enabled the testing of unmanned technologies.

According to Vladimir Putin, this regime must be primarily extended to a number of areas, including the use of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and data turnover.
