Russian fishermen boost catches in Far Eastern and Northern basins

Since early 2025, Russian fishermen caught over 3.6 million metric tons of biological resources, primarily in the Far Eastern and Northern basins, according to the Center of Fishery Monitoring and Communications data.

In all, 2,835.3 million metric tons were caught in the Far Eastern basin, an increase of 600 metric tons on the same period of 2024. The following fish species were caught: pollock – 1,726.5 million metric tons (+52,500 metric tons on 2024), cod – 91,700 metric tons (+1,300 metric tons), Pacific herring – 390,900 metric tons (+67,600 metric tons), and Far Eastern flounder – 55,900 metric tons (+1,500 metric tons).

Over 257,000 metric tons of fish were caught in the Northern basin, including 136,900 metric tons of cod and 45,300 metric tons of haddock (+400 metric tons).
