Medical team of Federal Medical-Biological Agency trains in Chukotka Upland

The personnel of a combined medical team and the Arctic Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Center administered first aid in the Chukotka Plateau, as per the press service of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency.

During the training session, doctors from the combined medical team “rescued” two skiers who fell from a slope, and one of them was immobilized. Specialists examined the “injured” person, diagnosed him with a severe leg trauma, readied the “patient” for transportation and maintained the body’s vital functions in conditions of subzero temperatures.

“Members of the combined medical team always see work in the Arctic as a challenge. Today’s training session shows that our specialists can treat patients in the most difficult situations, regardless of the terrain, ambient temperatures and the overall environment. Our doctors effectively interact with rescue teams, and this well-coordinated work shows that, instead of merely treating patients, we ensure them medical safety and security in the northernmost Russian territory,” Director of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency Alexei Shutov noted.

The Agency’s specialists prioritize efforts to ensure collaboration between doctors and rescue workers. Well-coordinated actions made it possible to minimize time between locating the “injured” person and providing professional medical assistance to them.

Cadets from an Emergencies Ministry class, affiliated with the Pevek Municipal Education Center, watched the work of the combined medical rescue team.
