Experts to discuss state support measures for Arctic and Far Eastern Federal District residents
Approaches to demographic policy, population support, and the creation of comfortable living conditions in the Arctic and Far Eastern regions will be among the key topics of the 11th Far East and the Arctic: Sustainable Development international scientific and practical conference.
As Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Anton Basansky noted, scientific and practical conferences of this kind enable specialists to exchange expertise and develop solutions addressing issues which affect the lives of people in the northern and Far Eastern territories.
“In the Arctic zone, 15 long-term plans have been approved for comprehensive development projects in key population centers, to be implemented by 2035 and encompassing around 516 initiatives. These primarily concern social facilities, as well as urban infrastructure and housing and utility services,” the minister stated during a news conference at TASS news agency.
Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Area Irina Gekht also stressed the importance of supporting people living in the Arctic.
“Having visited almost every settlement, where we saw the conditions in which people live and the issues they are tackling, we can see that they serve the state, the North, and the Homeland. These people truly deserve support at the national level,” she said.
The 11th The Far East and the Arctic: Sustainable Development International Scientific and Practical Conference will be held in Moscow on March 11–12.
