Ilyushin Il-114-300 aircraft tested successfully at – 45 degrees in Yakutia
The aircraft performed a number of test flights from Yakutsk airport in subzero temperatures. Specialists analyzed the work of the plane’s control system and those for controlling and feathering its propellers, as per the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation.
The program of the tests also included ground checks; the plane’s compartments were opened and chilled out at - 45 degrees Celsius. Experts assessed the performance of its engines, landing gear, de-icing system and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, entrance doors and emergency exits.
The Il-114-300, a modification of the Il-114 turboprop airliner, will replace obsolete Antonov An-24 planes, as well as foreign-made ATR72 and Bombardier Dash 8 models, on domestic routes.
