Polar University in Norilsk to become a center for Arctic science
Advanced laboratories specializing in permafrost science, geomechanics, rock and materials physics, non-ferrous metallurgy, materials science, and industrial machinery will be established at Fyodorovsky Polar State University, the Krasnoyarsk Territory government press service reported.
The project is designed to attract highly skilled specialists to the region and provide a foundation for the development of innovative domestic technologies.
“We are undertaking a comprehensive transformation of both the university’s infrastructure and its core activities – education and research. This project will help attract top-tier, world-class faculty and researchers,” Rector Yevgeny Golubev said.
A total of 660 million rubles has been allocated for the modernization of the institution and the creation of a world-class university. Renovation work on the future laboratory facilities is already underway, with completion scheduled for 2028.
