Government earmarks over 1.3 billion rubles for construction of crab fishing vessels in Russia’s Far East
The funds will be used to co-finance the construction of crab fishing vessels by fishing companies that have been awarded shares of investment quotas for crab harvesting. These subsidies will allow companies to partially offset their costs, the Government press service reports.
According to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the investment quota mechanism makes it possible to upgrade the fishing fleet, expand processing, improve production efficiency, and support the overall development of the Russian shipbuilding industry.
“This is essential to ensuring technological sovereignty and creating supply-side economics,” he emphasized.
The crab fishing vessel construction program, which will be in effect until the end of 2026, provides for a total of 6.4 billion rubles to support the launch of 13 ships.
