Yakutia to get 5.4 billion rubles for fiber-optic lines
The funds will be derived from the universal service reserve. According to the local governmental press service, the plan, if implemented, will accelerate and ease access to digital communications services for residents and businesses in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The Republic will build nearly 7,000 kilometers of fiber-optic lines that will link hard-of-access and remote regions in the Arctic zone.
“High-speed internet will come to 61 populated localities with a total population of about 50,000,” Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.
In 2026, fiber-optic communications lines will be built to 8 populated localities, to 25 in 2027, and to 28, the remainder, in 2028.
According to Mikhail Mishustin, the new infrastructure will make it possible to connect homes and social facilities to high-speed data transmission communications networks and to cut tariffs.
