First sea-going drones to be deployed in Arkhangelsk Region
The Arkhangelsk Region will become the first northern territory to deploy sea-going drones in freight logistics. The project will kick off in July 2025, according to the press service of the regional government.
The first routes are to link Arkhangelsk with the city’s insular territories, subsequently including communities on the White Sea coast and Solovetsky Islands. The three-year pilot project will facilitate regular deliveries of essential goods and consignments to remote and hard-to-reach communities across the region.
“Initially, we will streamline technologies for operating unmanned vessels in Arctic conditions, facilitating safe navigation and delivering freight to remote towns,” Unmanned Logistics Co. General Director Vladimir Shumilov noted.
