Chukotka Legislative Assembly passes regional budget for 2026
Most budgetary revenues will be channeled into the social sphere, including the housing and utilities infrastructure, the national economy and subsidies for local budgets, according to the press service of the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Area.
“We continue to improve local living standards, to implement additional measures for supporting families, and we also index outpayments,” the area’s governor Vladislav Kuznetsov noted.
In all, the social sphere will receive 24.1 billion rubles.
From January 1, 2026, the regional government will index social payments by 4 percent. The salaries of teachers, kindergarten educators, doctors, cultural and social workers will soar by 7.6 percent. Employees of the inter-sectoral remuneration system and cultural workers will have their payments raised by 20 percent. From October 1, 2026, there are plans to index the salaries of all employees in the Chukotka Autonomous Area by 4 percent.
From January 1, 2026, regional maternity capital will be indexed by 4 percent for families with over three children. According to the regional governor, its volume will reach 201,252 rubles.
Over 5 billion rubles will be used to build healthcare, cultural and sports facilities.
