The Ice Palace in Murmansk will host the opening ceremony for the 91st Festival of the North and the 66th Festival of the North of Students (Polar Olympiad).

The ceremony will include the raising of the flag, the competitors’ parade, and Olympic flame-lighting ceremony.

“This year, the Polar Olympiad will comprise 11 national and inter-regional events involving over 6,500 participants,” Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis reported.

All those wishing to attend the opening ceremony are invited to register in advance. An online broadcast will also be sponsored.

A detailed program of sports competitions can be found on the Our North website and the website maintained by the Ministry of Sport of the Murmansk Region.

The Polar Olympiad will be officially closed on April 19.
