In 2024, Chukotka became the safest Russian region, followed by the Nenets Autonomous Area, according to the Russian Interior Ministry’s statistical survey, RIA Novosti reports.

Last year, the Chukotka Autonomous Area posted just 865 crimes, or much less than any other territory. Chukotka is followed by the Nenets Autonomous Area with 877 felonies that were recorded there.

Over 1.9 million crimes were recorded nationwide throughout 2024.
