The Komi Republic will also spend 71.3 million rubles to support reindeer-herders and 5.1 million rubles to buy meat from private reindeer owners, press service of the Komi Republic’s Ministry of Agriculture and Trade reports.

Today, the Republic’s agricultural businesses own a total of 49,700 reindeer.

“We observe an increase in investment financing of reindeer-herding, based on the implementation of the state program of support for traditional farming among the indigenous peoples of the Arctic,” the report says.

Last year, 71.7 million rubles was allocated to buy equipment for reindeer farms, which proved enough for purchasing 18 vehicles and 20 drones.
