Schools and kindergartens in Chukotka to develop menus based on local products

The Novosibirsk Research Institute of Hygiene, an organization affiliated with the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), is set to develop specialized recipes aimed at enhancing the health of children and adults while mitigating the risks of diseases linked to vitamin and micronutrient deficiencies.

“We aim to create a collection of recipes and sample menus that every institution can easily implement,” emphasized Irina Novikova, Director of the Institute of Hygiene.

The development of such menus has gained particular relevance since the launch of the Nomadic Kindergarten project, which must account for the harsh conditions of the Far North.

“This initiative preserves the dietary traditions of Chukotka’s indigenous peoples, safeguards children’s health, and aligns with the strategy of replacing products brought here through the Northern Delivery.  As we launch the Nomadic Kindergarten project, it is crucial for children to maintain both their traditional way of life and familiar diet,” noted Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, during the signing of the agreement.
