Krasnoyarsk Territory spends over one billion rubles on supporting indigenous small-numbered ethnic groups this year
Top-priority projects aim to improve living conditions of reindeer breeders and commercial game hunters; they also include social security measures and facilitating the development of traditional economic activities, as per the press service of the Krasnoyarsk territorial government.
The reindeer-breeding sector received a record-breaking 325.7 million rubles.
Over 130 million rubles’ worth of territorial budget funding was spent on new homes for the families of reindeer breeders and commercial game hunters. A total of 21.6 million rubles was used to purchase mobile prefab modular homes for families on the Taimyr Peninsula.
Nineteen projects obtained grants worth 28 million rubles. Their implementation will make it possible to process over 80 metric tons of produce, generated by traditional economic activities, and to create over 70 jobs.
The authorities also focused on preserving the cultural legacy of indigenous ethnic groups. The book Pizyku (Little Nest) was published in the Enets language. The Tolango Book – Nenets language textbook for Grade 1 school students and the Learning the Evenk Language teaching aid also came off the press.
In 2026, the region’s reindeer-breeding sector will obtain the first 200 million rubles from the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.
Next year, the Krasnoyarsk Territory will launch a new project aiming to develop traditional economic activities, and it will receive 482.5 million rubles in 2026-2028.
