People independently buying their own diesel generators will get an extended refund of up to 30,000 rubles, as well as an additional 12,000 rubles annually for petroleum, oil and lubricants, according to the press service of the regional government.

From next year, local residents will also be reimbursed for life jackets’ purchase.

“Constructive dialogue between the authorities and Yamal residents allowed us to update this social support measure,” said Ulyana Kalenyuk, Director of the Department for Small Indigenous Northern Peoples of the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area.

The Yamal authorities have been using minimal regional material support standards since 2017. In the past eight months, over 5,000 nomadic households have taken advantage of various support measures in the region.
