Krasnoyarsk Territory to allocate 3.5 billion rubles for small-numbered indigenous peoples
The authorities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory have approved a state program entitled “Preservation and Development of the Traditional Way of Life and Economic Activity of Small-Numbered Indigenous Peoples” for 2026–2028, the regional Government’s Press Service reports.
The program allocates funds for the existing support measures, such as provision of equipment, goods and material values for fishing and hunting and support for students from among small-numbered indigenous peoples (SIP). Reindeer herders, hunters and fishermen will be provided with subsidies and communications and other essential equipment. Their spending on the upkeep of reindeer and on selling their products will also be compensated.
The program will be financed to the tune of 3.5 billion rubles. This money will also cover social payments, greater spending on housing construction for reindeer herders and hunters, and supply of portable dwellings.
The region will also implement the Development of Traditional Economic Activity of SIP project aimed at enhancing the economic efficacy of traditional industries and creating new jobs.
“By 2030, it is planned that the production volumes in this sphere will grow by almost 90 percent by comparison with 2024. There will be new procurement and processing posts and new jobs will be created,” head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory’s Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support for SIP Anton Narchuganov said.
It is being planned to allocate 482,500,000 rubles over three years to implement the project.
