Zemsky Trainer program to be extended to all regions of Russia in 2026
The program to support sports specialists in rural areas has already been launched in the Far Eastern and Central Federal Districts; in other regions, including the Arctic, it will come into force in 2026. The subsidizing rules of the program have been approved by the government, according to the Russian government website.
Under the program, physical education and sports professionals who choose to move to work in small towns with a population of up to 50,000 people will be eligible for one-time compensation payments ranging from 1 million to 2 million rubles.
State support will be available to specialists with higher or secondary vocational education. To qualify, they must sign a full-time contract with a sports organization and work there for at least five years.
For settlements in the Far East and the new regions, the one-time payment will amount to 2 million rubles, while in other regions it will be set at 1 million rubles.
A directive on the distribution of subsidies to the regions of the Far Eastern and Central Federal Districts for the implementation of this program in 2025 is also being prepared for signing.
