Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area modifies regulations for paying maternity capital to families from new regions

Authorities in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area will include children born in new Russian regions, while calculating maternity capital sums, according to the regional government’s press service.

“Families unable to obtain benefits because their children lacked Russian birthright citizenship can reapply, taking advantage of a new factor,” said Oksana Medinskaya, Director of the Social Security Department of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.

Earlier, maternity capital payments did not apply to children who lacked Russian citizenship when they were born, and who permanently resided in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Under new regulations, these children will also be included in the payroll. For example, if a family relocated to Yamal with two children and later gave birth to a third one, then they can obtain maternity capital for the latter.

The new regulations state expressly that a family should reside in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area for 12 months prior to childbirth, and payment volumes will depend on birthdate priority.
