Russian and US scientists to develop an information system on Arctic languages and cultures

A team of scientists from universities in Russia and the United States will launch an information system on languages, cultures, and genetics of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, Leading Research Fellow at the Linguistic Ecology International Research Laboratory of the Northeastern Federal University Ninel Malysheva, Dr.Sc. in Philology, reported.

“The new project is aimed at describing the current state and genesis of the ethnolinguistic situation in the Russian North and Arctic. Using computer-assisted teaching methods, we will develop educational platforms, among other resources, for future generations to learn the languages of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic,” she said.

Project participants will describe ethnogenetic ties. They will also model and forecast the development of languages spoken by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic.

The unified digital platform will be accessible to researchers, teachers, school students, and native speakers.
