Government to spend over 1.4 billion on low-cost air tickets
Federal funding is to go to companies that carried at least 169,000 passengers from Far Eastern and other remote areas at discount airfares from October 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025, according to the Russian Government’s official website.
“Many areas across Russia can only be reached by air because our country is so vast. Affordable air travel is seen as essential by all those who live or work there,” said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
People under 23, women over 55 years old and men over 60 years old, first-category disabled persons, children with disabilities and big families are eligible for special airfare.
