A section of a submarine fiber optic communications cable is currently being tested between the village of Teriberka in the Murmansk Region and the town of Amderma in the Nenets Autonomous Area. The network connection was completed under the Polar Express project, according to the press service of the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport (Rosmorrechflot).

Social infrastructure facilities were the first to gain broadband internet access. Amderma residents now can take advantage of this network and digital services, such as casting their ballots during the Single Voting Day, the press service said.

A 12,650-kilometer submarine fiber-optical communications line featuring six pairs of fiber optic cables with a throughput capacity of 52-104 terabytes per second will connect Murmansk and Vladivostok, serving as an alternative to communications satellites in northern latitudes.
