The Arctic-Info news agency reported that two Douglas aircraft dating back to era of World War II will fly the ALSIB route as part of the Russian-American project "Alaska-Siberia-2015."

The first aircraft made in 1942 left Great Falls, Montana on July 17. In almost three hours, it landed in Edmonton, Canada. On July 23, it will fly to Fairbanks, Alaska. In Fairbanks, it will be joined by the second Douglas, which will also fly the ALSIB route.

On July 27-28, Russian pilots will fly the Douglas airplanes over the Bering Strait for six hours and enter Russian air space. The aircraft will stop in Anadyr, Magadan, Yakutsk, Bratsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Yaroslavl, Pskov and finally Moscow where they will attend the 2015 International Air and Space Salon.

Aircraft began to fly the ALSIB air route between Alaska and Russia in 1942.
