Arctic Reboot architectural contest launches in Chukotka

The project is dedicated to creating spaces for comfortable living and recreation in the Arctic, according to the competition’s official website.

Participants will compete in three categories:

• low-rise residential development projects for the Peschanaya Spit area, Anadyr;

• conceptual designs for the development of the Tavaivaam ethnic rural settlement on the shores of the Anadyr Estuary;

• projects for the development and integration of the Fisherman’s House ethnographic cluster into the natural landscape.

“The project should explore the concept of comfortable living in Chukotka’s harsh climate, combining technology, sustainability, and respect for nature. It is important to highlight how architecture can not only protect people from cold and wind, but also inspire them, creating a sense of home and community even at the end of the world,” the contest website notes.

The total prize fund amounts to 1.5 million rubles. Applications are accepted until March 15.
