Chukotka to get over 564 million rubles to subsidize air travel
The Chukotka Autonomous Area will receive more than 564 million rubles in federal funding to subsidize air travel. The allocated funds will make it possible to continue supporting flights, including for socially significant categories of citizens. If necessary, the volume of subsidies may be increased during the year. This was reported by the regional press service following a meeting between Governor of Chukotka Vladislav Kuznetsov and Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin.
“Federal support enables Chukotka to further develop air services and transport infrastructure. This is an important step toward improving accessibility and mobility for residents of the region,” the governor emphasized.
Thanks to government support measures, Chukotka continues to expand its route network and increase passenger traffic. Over the first eleven months of 2025, more than 225,000 passengers were transported: an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
The meeting also addressed the renovation of the airport runway in the village of Keperveyem, Bilibinsky District. The project is scheduled for completion by 2029.
As part of efforts to boost passenger traffic and improve transport accessibility, the governor and the Minister of Transport discussed how to organize a ferry service across the Anadyr Estuary. This ferry is a key transport link between the airport and the city of Anadyr. The renovation of berth No. 7 is planned to be carried out with federal budget funding.
