Yakutia and the single maritime operator for the northern supply haul sign cooperation agreement
According to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the partnership agreement will make it possible to ensure a timely and uninterrupted supply of vital commodities and materials to Yakutia from January 2026 to December 31, 2028.
Under the agreement, the single maritime operator (SMO) will deliver cargoes, including oil products, not only along the Northern Sea Route but also by Yakutia’s rivers.
“Yakutia is annually in receipt of over 2 million metric tons of cargoes, including 1.4 million metric tons of vital freight. In 2025, their total cost will exceed 70 billion rubles. Created jointly with the Rosatom Corporation, the new system will increase reliability of deliveries to outlying Arctic populated localities and optimize the price check for maritime transportation along the Northern Sea Route,” Prime Minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Kirill Bychkov said.
This year, the SMO has succeeded in implementing the pilot project in Chukotka by delivering, ahead of schedule, 152,440 metric tons of oil products and 6,770 metric tons of containerized cargoes. This experience has proved that the SMO is ready to extend the model to other regions and boost the volume of deliveries.
