The monument will resemble a traditional skin-and-bark tent (chum) used by Yamal residents and decorated with an ornament. Inside the tent, visitors will see the Aurora Polaris (Northern Lights) and an inscription reading “Eternal memory to Yamal soldiers, the defenders of Stalingrad.”

The monument concept is implemented by amateur archeologists from the Kara Expeditions unit under a grant project sponsored by the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.

According to the press service of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area’s Legislative Assembly, the monument’s rough drawing has already been approved by the Ministry of Culture, and its historical-cultural expert examination has also been completed.

Construction and assembly works are to commence soon.
