USC unveils a unique vessel designed for underwater technical operations in the Arctic

The Sprut is capable of carrying out a wide range of tasks at depths of up to 2,000 meters, said Vladimir Rachin, Deputy Director of the Civil Shipbuilding Sales and Contracting Department at the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

It is designed to maintain subsea oilfield equipment, inspect and repair underwater sections of offshore facilities, and conduct various other technical operations in the Arctic seas.

In addition, the Sprut is equipped to assist submarines in distress.

Its key advantages over foreign counterparts include a high Arc-5 ice class and a unique arrangement of its primary underwater technical equipment, enabling the vessel to operate effectively in harsh Arctic conditions throughout the year.
