Yakutia’s Arctic villages to receive broadband internet access by late 2028
Fiber-optic communications lines will be installed across the region in accordance with the Arctic Synergy federal project, according to Aysen Nikolayev, Head of the Republic.
“Financing is already stipulated, and we are expecting substantial support this year. Under the program, 62 communities in Yakutia’s Arctic zone will obtain broadband internet access via fiber-optic lines,” the Head of the Republic said.
Nikolayev noted that there were plans to completely lay long-range fiber-optic lines by 2028; they will connect district capitals with Arctic communities. The new networks will be integrated with that of the Northern Sea Route.
“Our republic is implementing this grandiose infrastructure project with the support of Russia’s President and Government. We have been promoting this project over the last four years, and it is now being translated into life,” he added.
