Khabarovsk became the first city in Russia’s Far East to deploy a mobile network offering a transmission rate of up to 1.5 Gbps, enabling anyone with a smartphone covering the 4.9 GHz spectrum to access 5G connectivity, the press service of the Khabarovsk Territory’s Government said in a statement.“Offering 5G technology will not only offer faster mobile internet connections but will also enable companies to pursue the digital transition. Our goal is to use this infrastructure to the best of our ability for launching digital solutions that would offer people and businesses measurable benefits,” Yevgeny Dyomin, the region’s Minister for Digital Development and Communications, pointed out.For now, the 5G network is available on Khabarovsk’ central square, but there are plans to gradually launch it within the allocated frequency band, which can be used for both 4G and 5G networks at the same time. This means that expanding coverage will not require building new infrastructure.
