According to the press service of the regional government, citing reports delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, the number of tourists visiting the Arkhangelsk Region grew by 19 percent in the first half of 2026.The region also saw a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors during the first half of the year, with arrivals up by around 49 percent compared with the same period in 2025.“The region took part in the Strategic Initiatives Agency’s training program titled “Discover Your Russia.” As a result, a new tourism product, “Arkhangelsk Region: The Diamond of the Arctic,” was developed jointly with tour operators and is aimed at visitors from India. We see great potential for cooperation with countries in Asia and the Middle East and are steadily expanding our efforts in this area,” the Arkhangelsk Region Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Arctic.ru.According to Arkhangelsk Region Minister of Culture and Tourism Oksana Svetlova, the strong results are the outcome of the region’s team pursuing a consistent strategy for expanding the tourism industry.“We are seeing changes in tourist preferences: interest is growing in the Russian North, authentic travel experiences, and the region’s culture and history. In 2026, which has been designated the Year of Culture of the Russian North, we will continue expanding the sector with a focus on preserving historical and cultural heritage, creating new routes, and improving the quality of tourism services. Our goal is to make the Arkhangelsk Region not merely a point on the map, but a destination people will want to return to,” the minister said.
