An air ambulance evacuates a patient in Kamchatka
Doctors from Kamchatka’s air medical service saved two lives in the first days of August by acting quickly to provide timely medical care, which included surgery and neurologic intervention.
Patients from remote districts could benefit from emergency medical evacuation to the regional hospital thanks to effective and timely coordination between medical services, air control and the air ambulance, the press service of the Kamchatka Territory Government said in a statement.
It was a tourist who sounded the alarm from near the Klyuchevsky Volcano. The symptoms pointed to acute appendicitis.
The second patient was evacuated from the Ust-Bolsheretsky District when medical workers suspected stroke and requested an air ambulance. The air ambulance transferred the patient to the dedicated unit at the regional hospital within two hours after receiving the request. The patient is now receiving medical care and treatment.
