The construction site for the future Snezhinka International Arctic Station in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area has been marked out, paving the way for the work to build a temporary research camp.
According to the press service of the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, construction of 12 modular residential units is already underway. In addition, a temporary accommodation unit for construction workers has been installed, while sand and crushed stone are being delivered to prepare the site for the modular buildings.

“With the commissioning of the mobile residential camp and its supporting infrastructure, research into hydrogen energy and the development of next-generation satellite communication technologies will begin in the Polar Urals. The station will also serve as a testing ground for unmanned aerial systems. We expect to complete the installation of the mobile camp and all the necessary equipment by the end of this year so that scientists can promptly begin their work,” Yamal Governor Dmitry Artyukhov noted.

The project of the Snezhinka Station construction is implemented under a trilateral agreement between the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
