Repair work is underway on a section of the access road to the village of Starotsurukhaitui in the Priargunsk District of the Trans-Baikal Territory, near the Russian-Chinese border. The road serves as a key transport route leading to a border crossing with China and plays a major role in regional logistics.
According to the press service of the Government of the Trans-Baikal Territory, the project includes resurfacing the roadway, reconstructing the earthen roadbed, rebuilding a culvert, upgrading intersections and junctions, and improving other engineering and transport infrastructure.
“Crews are currently clearing roadside areas, carrying out earthworks at the site designated for a future asphalt and concrete plant, and constructing temporary detour roads to allow culvert repairs to proceed,” specialists from the State Budgetary Institution Zabavtodor reported, adding that the project is scheduled for completion by 2028.
Concurrently, the two-way Starotsurukhaituisky border crossing is also undergoing modernization. The project is designed to separate freight and passenger vehicle traffic. Once the upgrades are completed, the crossing will have the capacity to handle up to 730 trucks.
