India’s Consul General in St. Petersburg, Ms.Neelam Rani, paid a working visit to the Republic of Karelia and met with representatives of the administration and business circles of the region. The meeting participants discussed expanded cooperation in the sphere of tourism, the economy and education, as per the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia.For example, representatives of Karelia noted that Indian tourists were becoming more and more interested in the region, and that this made it possible to develop new routes.“We can see a considerable potential in expanding tourism, strengthening business-like ties between enterprises and implementing joint initiatives in the sphere of education. It is important that our cooperation should have practical implications, and that it should help establish direct contacts between organizations and companies,” Minister of Economic Development of Karelia, Anton Fokin, stressed.Additionally, they discussed expanded cooperation in the timber and mining sectors.
