Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Dmitry Demeshin discussed with seed producers creating a regional research and production center for plant breeding and seed production. Implementing this project in the Far East is meant to evade logistic costs and cut delivery time, the Khabarovsk Territory Government press service reports.
The center is to be built in the town of Bikin, the seat of the largest full-cycle seed plant in the Far East.
The project provides for expanding the land bank, upgrading production and developing breeding work with respect to soybeans and corn, including creation of new highly productive domestic varieties and hybrids.

“It is very important for us to have domestic, Far Eastern producers,” Dmitry Demeshin stressed.

There are plans for the first stage to breed and develop hybrids and varieties, which can satisfy the needs of the Far Eastern farmer to subsequently enter the markets in the country's western regions.
