On June 20, the town of Teploozyorsk in the Jewish Autonomous Region will host the event marking Evenk New Year – Khebdenek celebrations.
As usual, the festival will be held on the territory of the Smaller Khingan nature-cultural area. Its program includes 15 masterclasses by artisans from the Jewish Autonomous Region, as well as the Amur Region, the Khabarovsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The artisans will acquaint guests with traditional handicrafts of ethnic groups in the Amur River area.
The event’s program also features an archery tournament and the traditional Nanai game Apokachi. A four-meter wooden effigy called the Manchurian Deer will be burned at the end of the festival.
Participants should register on the event’s official website.
