Since June 15, Aeroflot will stop selling air tickers to foreign nationals under its flat rate program; they will be available to Russian citizens only, reports the airline’s press service.
The economy class tickets have been sold at a flat rate since 2014. Their price is much lower than their cost price and does not depend on the flight date.
“Considering the high demand and social importance of this program Aeroflot has decided to apply it solely to Russian citizens. Foreigners will buy tickets at commercial rates for these destinations,” noted the airline.
Currently, air tickets at a flat rate are available on routes between Moscow and nine Far Eastern cities: Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Magadan, Yakutsk, Blagoveshchensk, Anadyr, and Ulan-Ude. Such tickets can also be purchased on flights from Moscow to Kaliningrad.
Last year, 1.5 million passengers travelled to Far Eastern destinations at a flat rate.
