The Russian North forum on the platform of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs will be held in Salekhard, the capital city of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. The event will provide a venue for a dialogue of active young people, representatives of indigenous small peoples of the North, Siberia, the Far East, as well as experts, teachers, designers and ethnic bloggers from all over the country, the press service of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area government reported.This year the forum program is timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. Forum participants will discuss development of national and interethnic relations, current areas of the youth policy in the Arctic regions, and share the practices of preserving the languages, cultures and traditions of the indigenous small peoples.“We want the young people living in the Arctic become drivers of favorable changes. It is important that the voice of youth is heeded, and ideas are supported at the federal level,” noted Director of the regional Department of Indigenous Small Peoples of the North, Ulyana Kalenyuk.The event is held as part of the national project Youth and Children supported by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area government.
