Dmitry Bratynenko, Head of the Komi Republic Government, presented a report to the regional State Council on the government’s performance in 2025 and its plans for 2026-2028.
In his remarks, Bratynenko noted that 42 regional companies from Vorkuta, Inta, Usinsk, and the Ust-Tsilemsky District have currently obtained Arctic zone resident status, with a total declared investment volume of over 3.2 billion rubles. This was reported by the press service of the head of the Republic.
According to the statement, ongoing projects include the launch of a calcium carbide and ferroalloy plant in Inta, a pipe production facility in Usinsk, and the modernization of a machine shop in Vorkuta. The non-resource sector is also growing (industrial safety software, sports and tourism routes in the Polar Urals), and local brands are being supported (milk processing in the Ust-Tsilemsky District).
According to Dmitry Bratynenko, the amount of the presidential Arctic subsidy has nearly tripled. “Moreover, the main increase comes from federal and regional budgets,” he explained, adding that these funds were used to purchase 40 ambulances, create the Quantorium school technology park in Usinsk, and renovate a school in Ust-Usa. This year, the subsidy will go toward continuing repairs of the ring road and improving public spaces in Vorkuta.
The regional government has also adopted a long-term development plan for the Vorkuta conurbation through 2035. The document provides for the modernization of the airport, healthcare facilities, and utility networks, as well as major repairs to the Usinsky water pipeline and the construction of a waste sorting facility in the village of Severny.
As Bratynenko noted, the key driver of Vorkuta’s transformation will be the gas chemical complex. Investments are expected to exceed 200 billion rubles, and 1,500 new jobs are planned to be created. The project has received the support of the Russian President.
