The 7th Natural and Cultural Legacy of the Arctic Regions Conference
The conference will be held on April 16 at the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local History and Lore.
Around 20 researchers from the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area, Norilsk and St. Petersburg are expected to present their reports on the history of Arctic exploration, preservation of the natural and cultural legacy, and the development of tourism in the region.
The conference program includes plenary sessions on the following topics:
  • Protected natural territories and archaeological heritage;
  • The history of the transport and patrol service in the Russian North;
  • The impact of polar climate on the combat activities during the Great Patriotic War;
  • The history of Tryphon of Pechenga’s St. Trinity Monastery and commercial fishing in the Arctic;
  • The intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of the North;
  • Fauna research, environmental monitoring, and meteorological observation;
  • Local history and lore studies, tourism, and patriotic upbringing;
  • Museum projects.
