A gem-quality diamond measuring 23x20x22 mm was found in the winter of 2026 at the deposit of the Aykhal Mining and Processing Plant, the press service of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported.
At his meeting with ALROSA Director General Pavel Marinychev, Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolayev suggested naming the diamond after the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
“It is particular important that a Yakutian diamond will become a symbol of one of our country’s core values – the unity of its peoples,” Aisen Nikolayev emphasized.
The year 2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia by President Vladimir Putin’s executive order.
